Biodiesel fuel is becoming a popular alternative to regular gasoline and diesel that we all buy at the corner gas station. Biodiesel is produced from these feedstocks through a process called transesterification, by reacting the oil with an alcohol and a catalyst.
The production cost in some countries is still expensive. Having only natural ingredients, it has no emission that can potentially harm the environment. The world is confronting with the twin issues of global warming and energy pinch.
It is being suggested by many biodiesel advocates that excess or waste vegetable oil can be the best source of oil to produce this alternative fuel. The use of biodiesel results in a substantial boost to the environment. Bio-diesel reduces carbon emissions.
Any reduction in gasoline prices brings a relief of a few pennies, however the escalation is never less than a few dollars. Biodiesel can be used in its pure form or it may also be blended with petroleum diesel.
