Biodiesel performs similar to petroleum diesel while benefiting the environment. Some manufacturers now extend warranty coverage for new diesel powered vehicles to use lower blends of biodiesel, provided the fuel meets applicable standards.
Oil prices never really came down even after the crisis was long over. Biodiesel fuel is made from vegetable oil. Many people who produce biodiesel in small processors in their backyards get most of their raw materials from business such as restaurants that produce large amounts of vegetable oil waste.
Changes to the feedstock source or additives may be needed to address the cold flow properties of this fuel. Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. The regular diesel has components such as sulfur and aromatics.
Biodiesel is the future. You can save money and help to reduce pollution as well.
